North York Centre Achieves LEED® Gold Building Certification

5140 and 5160 Yonge Street at North York Centre in Toronto recently certified LEED® Gold Operations and Maintenance: Existing Buildings (O+M: EB), further demonstrating GWLRA’s commitment to environmental sustainability within our portfolio. LEED® was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and is the most widely used green building rating system in the world.

“This achievement reflects the team’s hard work, perseverance, and dedication in improving the asset’s operational efficiency and sustainability platform,” said Nuno Topa, Director of Property Management GWLRA. “By modifying the sequence of operations on major equipment, investing in impactful projects, partnering with tenants, and fostering a collaborative environment, the team demonstrated great leadership and a strong commitment to sustainability.”

Pursuing building certifications for the properties we manage is an important part of our sustainability strategy. Currently, 92% of our eligible portfolio (by floor area) has green certifications. They help us attract high-quality tenants, ensure best-in-class operational practices, and enhance the long-term value of our clients’ assets.
